The State Medical Board of Ohio (SMBO) and the Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force hosted two trainings to help law enforcement agencies recognize human trafficking in illicit massage businesses. In addition to remarks from the Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force, SMBO investigators explained the Medical Board's jurisdiction over the regular of massage therapy and the investigation of complaints over improper practice. The training also included an in-depth presentation from The Network Program Advisor Kathy Chen, who explained the illicit massage therapy industry and methods of victimization. Officers from 15 law enforcement agencies attended the trainings, including both local and federal departments. This week's training is a continuation of the board's efforts to partner with law enforcement agencies and other entities to combat human trafficking.
