Winter 2018 Issue of HealthScene Ohio Available

HealthScene Ohio, the Medical Board’s quarterly magazine, is now available. The winter 2018 issue features articles about health care providers and boundaries, the critical care that respiratory care professionals offer, the expertise that dietitians provide, mentoring future doctors, women's cardiovascular health, innovative vascular surgery, developments in robotic gynecological surgery, addressing infant mortality, treating addicted moms-to-be and helping child burn victims.

 

eLicense Downtime Saturday, 2/10

eLicense.ohio.gov will be unavailable this Saturday, 2/10 from 6 p.m. to midnight. Individuals who need to apply for a license or renew their license in the next few days are encouraged to complete their applications before 6 p.m. on Saturday, 2/10.

Those who started-- but did not complete-- renewals or licensure applications while the OH/ID security login was in place (1/22-2/10), should look for an email over the next few days to reset their password. Other individuals (not in the process of applying or renewing) who had created an OH/ID account will need to reset their password the next time they log into eLicense.ohio.gov.

Renewal Deadline for Supervision Agreements and Allied Health Professionals

The State Medical Board of Ohio will waive the late fee through February 14, 2018 for expiring licenses. Additionally, the expiration for supervision agreements has been extended to February 15 (there is no fee associated with these).
 
What you should do for your license renewal:

  • Please complete all renewal steps on eLicense.ohio.gov. Save your progress.

  • DO NOT PAY

  • Email license@med.ohio.gov. Include your name and license number.

  • A customer service associate will manually remove the fee from the cart. We will notify you when you can log back in to complete the process.

 

What you should do for your supervision agreement renewal:

  • To begin, visit elicense.ohio.gov.

  • Once logged in, you will see the Dashboard page.

  • Locate your physician license and click on the Options button for that license.

  • Select Supervision Agreements from the dropdown options.

  • You will be taken to the Medical License Agreements page.

  • Click the down arrow on the row corresponding with the agreement(s) you wish to renew.

  • Under Agreement Options, choose Renew.

Special Meeting on February 2, 2018

The State Medical Board of Ohio will convene a special meeting via telephone conference in order to consider acceptance of the permanent surrender of an individual’s certificate to practice. The special meeting is being held pursuant to Section 4731.22(M), Ohio Revised Code. The notice can be viewed here

Welcome Dietitians and Respiratory Care Professionals

The Medical Board welcomes Ohio’s licensed dietitians and respiratory care providers. House Bill 49, the state budget bill, ordered the consolidation of several boards in Ohio. As a result, Dietetics and Respiratory Care Boards have merged to be part of the State Medical Board of Ohio. All licensees will continue to use eLicense.ohio.gov to renew and update license information. We look forward to serving these new professionals as they work to protect and improve the health of Ohioans.

Upcoming Closure in Honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day

The Medical Board's office will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2018 in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The office will reopen at 8 A.M. on Tuesday. 

Proposed Physician Assistant Rule Changes - Comment Period Open

You are invited to review proposed rule changes and submit comments. The proposed rules showing the amendments are located here on our website. Comments will be accepted until the close of business on January 18, 2018.

 

The following three rules have been reviewed by the Physician Assistant Policy Committee and the State Medical Board for consistency with current law. This memo sets out the proposed actions resulting from the review.

  • Rule 4730-1-05: Quality assurance system.

  • Rule 4730-2-04: Provisional period of physician-delegated prescriptive authority.

  • Rule 4730-2-05: Certificate to prescribe.
