On
April 1, 2004, the Medical Board launched a new website for looking
up information about its licensees. From the same links on the
Board's web site users will be directed to a site that provides all
of the information from the previous licensee look-up application,
but in a more concise format. Any formal action information, if it
exists, will be displayed on the profile page without having to
access another link. As always, copies of the documents associated
with Board formal actions are available by clicking the link at the
bottom of that profile page.
You may access the new page by clicking
here,
or by clicking the "Licensee Profile and Status" link on the Board's main
site or any of the Board's subwebs. When you reach the new site, you must
first choose "Medical Board" from the "Division" drop-down box.
Some of the
benefits of the new page are that more statuses are displayed, and you may
search on any of a number of fields to help you better locate the
information you need. Information will also be available on the status of
applicants and the holders of training certificates. In addition, while
the data on the Board's site previously had been updated once each week,
all data will now update in real time. Additional enhancements to the new
site, which should be active within the week, include the ability to
search/look up a licensee by license number.
Missing from
the new site at this time is the batch verification application that many
hospitals and third-party payers found so helpful. Because the Board’s
old database is not being updated as of April 1, 2004, the information
available through batch verification is no longer current. For the time
being, the only option for verification of licensure is to enter each
licensee individually.
The Board is
aware that batch verification is a convenience verging on necessity,
especially for facilities with large numbers of Board licensees to be
verified. Because of that awareness, the Board plans to have a batch
verification system of some type available again within 6 to 8 weeks, once
additional programming is complete. The Board is also looking into
enhancements to the new system that have the potential to simplify, and
perhaps even automate to some degree, the process of verifying licensure
status.
The Board
will continue to post information to this site as it becomes available.
The Board has been, and will continue to be, in contact with the Ohio
Hospital Association and the Ohio Association of Medical Staff Services to
ensure that the people and organizations who rely on the Board’s website
for license verification have the most updated information available. |
