Physician General Licensure Information
In order to practice medicine in Ohio, an individual must be licensed and maintain a current license by the State Medical Board. 

Processing time is generally 10-12 weeks.  Applications with affirmative answers or with criminal records reports will take additional time.  License applications are initially reviewed by licensure staff within 30 days of receipt of a completed application.  Applicants will be notified by mail of any missing information.  All applications must be approved by the State Medical Board.  Once the application is approved, the applicant will receive a wallet card and wall certificate in approximately 2 weeks.
