Deadline to Apply for CT Exam Approaching

The date of the next Cosmetic Therapy exam is Friday, July 7, 2017. The application must be submitted before 5 p.m. on Monday, June 26, 2017. Click here to submit an application.

A Public Rules Hearing Will Be Held on July 26, 2017

A public hearing on proposed rules will be held on July 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Lobby Hearing Room, Rhodes State Office Tower, 30 E. Broad Street, 1st Floor, Columbus, OH 43215. Oral and written testimony may be presented by any person affected by the proposed rules.

Rules 4731-11-01, 4731-11-02 and 4731-11-13

The rules are applicable to the prescribing of controlled substances. Rule 4731-11-13 is proposed as a new rule applicable to prescribing opiate analgesics for acute pain. The rules will be applicable to physicians and physician assistants. 

 

New online system for MD, DO and DPM Licensees is LIVE

All MD, DO & DPM license applications and payments are now processed online in the eLicense system. These groups join our other licensees already operating in the online system.

Newly Adopted and Amended Rules

The Medical Board adopted new and amended rules that are effective on 6-30-17.

Podiatric licensure rules: 4731-12-01, 4731-12-02, 4731-12-04, 4731-12-05, 4731-12-06 and 4731-12-07. (Please note: Rule 4731-12-03 was filed as a “no change” rule and will continue on without having to be re-adopted.)

MD, DO and DPM Licensees

MD, DO and DPM Licensees

Physician license application and renewal is unavailable June 9 – 19 while the State Medical Board of Ohio converts MD, DO, DPM licenses, training certificates, special certificates and supervision agreements to a new online system. There will also be limited access to records and pending applications during the conversion. Starting June 19 all license applications will be online and paper applications/checks will no longer be accepted.

Upcoming Holiday Closure in Honor of Memorial Day

The Medical Board’s office will be closed on Monday, May 29, 2017 in honor of Memorial Day. The office will reopen on Tuesday at 8 a.m.

A Public Hearing Will Be Held June 23, 2017

​A public hearing will be held on June 23rd at 1:30 p.m. in the Lobby Hearing Room of The Rhodes State Office Tower. It is located at 30 E. Broad Street, 1st Floor, Columbus, Ohio 43215. Oral and written testimony may be presented by any person affected by the proposed rules.

Renewal Systems are Anticipated to be Unavailable from June 2 – June 19. Renew Now!

If your license expires July 1, you are strongly encouraged to renew NOW. The State Medical Board of Ohio will be changing online licensure websites in June 2017. All systems are anticipated to be unavailable from June 2 – June 19. You will not be able to renew your license during the outage.

  • Physicians and Training Certificate holders with an approaching renewal deadline: You are strongly encouraged to renew your license BEFORE June 2. Log on to https://license.ohio.gov to get started. Chrome will not work properly with the physician online renewal website.

  • All other license holders with a July 1, 2017 renewal deadline: Consider renewing before June 2 to avoid system outages. Click here to renew: https://elicense.ohio.gov.

Renewing early does not change future license expiration dates. Paper licensure applications for MD, DO, DPM and training certificates will not be accepted after June 19.
